About School of International Education (SoIE)

部门职能 Overview of SoIE

国际教育学院于2018年7月由原国际合作与交流处和原外语教学中心融合而成。国际教育学院承担学校国际招生、国际项目开发、外事交流、国际生管理、海外升学咨询、语言教学等多重职能。

The School of International Education (SoIE) was established in July 2018 through a merger of the college’s Office of International Relations and Language Center. SoIE is mainly responsible for international student recruitment, international programs development, school foreign affairs, international student services and language teaching.

师资情况 Faculty and Staff

国际教育学院师资配备优良，外籍教师、留学归国教师、内地教师各占三分之一，90%以上教师取得高校教师资格证和高等院校助教及讲师职称，教师具备较强的英语教学能力和教学研究能力。国际教育学院现有7名英语教师获得加拿大百年理工学院的教师认证,5名教师拥有在加拿大百年理工学院工作交流的经历。

SoIE boasts a faculty team of expatriates, overseas returnees and local Chinese teachers, majority of who hold master’s degrees and lecturer titles. As of now, six English teachers have been certified to teach Canadian credit-bearing courses, five faculty members have visited Centennial College in Toronto for faculty exchange and teacher professional development programs.

教学成果 Achievements of Language Teaching

秉承“全人教育”理念，国际教育学院全体教师致力于为广大师生营造国际化校园环境，为学生出国留学、省内转本与优质就业等多元需求提供全方位的语言教学方案。其中,英语教学成果显著。自2013年以来，国际教育学院在教学改革、课程建设和科研探究等方面取得了累累硕果，教师以及教师指导学生获奖累计十余次，其中指导学生获全国高职院校英语口语比赛特等奖一次，江苏省高等职业院校英语口语技能大赛获一等奖8项，3名教师参加“外教社杯”全国高校外语教学大赛江苏赛区决赛分获一、二、三等奖，5名教师获得苏州市2016年首届教育教学成果奖二等奖，教师团队制作的微课在全国高校外语教学大赛微课比赛中荣获三等奖。学生英语综合技能和水平在同类院校学生中居于前茅。

SoIE offers a variety of English language courses to all students of Suzhou Centennial College. The main purposes of English language training is to equip students with essential academic and professional language skills for further education overseas, domestic articulation pathways from diploma to degree programs, and employment. Since 2013, Faculty of SoIE have made lots of achievements including but not limited to multiple winnings of provincial Teaching Excellence Awards, outstanding student tutors for national and provincial English speaking contest, and many academic-related awards.

对外汉语教学项目 Mandarin Chinese Teaching Programs

自2018年3月起,国际教育学院专门成立了对外汉语教研室,承接了巴拿马政府与中国政府建交以来首个国际留学生汉语教学项目,现有巴拿马留学生59名。截至目前，国际教育学院已有5名教师取得国家对外汉语教师资格证书，相继为加拿大、韩国、巴拿马等国家的留学生开设过各类汉语语言及中国文化课程。国际教育学院面向欧洲、东南亚、北美洲、南美洲等国家国际生提供各类长短期留学生汉语水平考试辅导和中国传统文化启蒙课程，受到学生一致好评。

SoIE also offers Mandarin Chinese programs to international students. Up to this date, SoIE has received many different Mandarin learning student groups from Canada, South Korea and Panama, etc. The Mandarin Chinese language courses aim at helping international students improve their Chinese language proficiencies and preparing them for HSK tests (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi).

对外交流活动 Cross-border Language and Culture Exchange Programs

在对外交流方面,国际教育学院多次承担了加拿大百年理工学院海外短期研学旅行项目(FLIP)和韩国大学生全球实践项目(GPTP)等工作,多次受到省内外兄弟院校同行的来访考察和学习。2016年7月,国际教育学院院长带领我校九名教师赴加拿大百年理工学院参加了为期一个月的访问和工作交流活动,2018年7月,我校还派出了首批师生研学旅行团赴加拿大百年理工学院学习交流。

SoIE has received many student and faculty delegations in addition to university and college representatives from partner institutions across the world. SoIE has been working closely with the International Education Department of Centennial College and Korean Council for University College Education (KCCE) with regard to Faculty Lead International Programs (FLIP) and Global Practical Training Program (GPTP) respectively. In addition, faculty of SoIE has sent SCC faculty teams and student groups to Centennial College in Toronto for exchange purposes in the past two years.
